Ok I asked this before but can't find the post.

I have this Holley carb and Jr wants to use it until he can save up some money for a Edelbrock 1406.

Question, I don't see a PCV valve hook up on the carb. Does that mean we have to drill a hole on his new valve covers or ?

Also, besides the yellow cap for the choke and the front small brass nipple for the dust vacuum, what is the other one for?

Is it to "Y" off the Dist vacuum to operate the secondaries?

I believe that is a 600 CFM Holley 4160 series from a 1974 Ford F250 truck. It may be a little large for Jr's 304.

And if you're wondering how I got that info, I simply Googled "D4TE-9510-ASA". You should try the Google thing, it works great.

In fact, you should try Googling "Holley 4160 Series vacuum ports". I bet you get your answers.

Thanks, I didn't know to google that number but I did go to NAPA and they were like ????

We put a AMC 360 in from a '85 Waggy

I looked for that PCV connection and didn't even see it. Just went out and looked again and it's not there-I'll check again tomorrow.

Yep, a 4160...and that link Matt provided is spot on.

Here's my 4160 600 cfm and for what it's worth it's not too big for my 304...but my 304 is slightly modified...

I still don't see the PCV port on mine - confused and will look after I'm out of the office.

If it doesn't have one then I guess we need to route the PCV into the valve cover ???

It has to have one !

I had this carb modified by the Carb Shop in Ontairo CA.

It's a stage I, II & off-road build: http://www.customcarbs.com/index.php...es/holleycarbs

...and combined with my Edelbrock Performer intake this thing screams...I now have over 500 miles off road and it has been flawless with ALL types of terrain. Not one hiccup...knock on wood...

It was well worth the extra $170.00 for them to modify my Holley.

I grew up in Fla/East coast/house in the Keys on the H20 and moved out West almost 4 yrs ago. Still can't get use to the naked mountains and no Ocean.

I'm not sure what you're contemplating when you say "route the PCV into the valve cover". I think you may be a bit confused on how the PCV operates.

If the carb truly doesn't have a PCV port, which I can't imagine, he can pull manifold vacuum for the PCV directly from the intake manifold thru a port that is probably currently plugged.

Confirm what you have, then we'll chat more.

Matt, I'm confused as well.

Here is what he has and U can C the PCV coming out of the back of the intake AND the manifold vacuum ports plugged/capped off.

Here are pics of the back if the carb. Something is just not clicking w/me on this.

Jim,

It appears you have some sort of non-typical base plate on that carb.

But don't despair. You have a ready-made manifold vacuum port in place on your intake (see picture). Connect the PCV to that.

OK thanks - For some reason I kept looking at that and IT WOULD NOT CLICK !!!!!!!!!!! I was thinking I was creating a loop feed by doing that.

Getting old or tired from working hours on the kids Jeep but they/I are learning

Now if he wants to hook power brakes up I just need a "Y" right ?

I also need to run a piece of tubing to the vapor canister from the small port.

The brake booster can run off of the other nipple on that same vacuum port.

The canister purge can be connected to the manifold port below the idle mixture screw (see the Holley picture I posted above). If you don't have that port on your carb, then T the canister purge into the PCV vacuum line.

The canister signal should connect to the CTO, which should be connected to ported vacuum. This diagram should help.
