I got to the glass bead blasting of the YJ booster mounting bracket then primed the Vette master cylinder and the bracket. You can see the difference in size between the Vette master and the E350 cargo van master cylinder. The E350 reservoir interferes with the hood by at least 1 inch.

edit- not primed in these photos yet... duh
I would rather use the new E350 master and I suppose the best option is to find another shorter reservoir that could replace the tall one...
Rebelracing checked for me and they both have 1 1/8 bores so the Vette should be ok. The Vette reservoir is actually quite large so maybe I won't stew much longer about not using the E30 master- and think- it cost me a whole $14 and free shipping for the little experiment.
The plastic sleeve on the YJ that keeps the works clean in the span from the firewall to the booster fits perfectly on the new booster, too, so I'll use it to seal the firewall up.
I'm thinking about perhaps using this for the rod to pedal attachment:

So have I said my new favorite color is fast becoming chrome??
I've painted up the master cylinder cover and thought I could do better...

This should stand up to the regular friction of yanking the bails on and off to check the fluid. That and chrome is cool... I guess I never got enough bling when I was a kid. Right Ken??

You've really jumped on this brake job Jim. I'm thinking the Vette mc is the way to go. I know it work work fine with my brake calipers and you should have enough reservoir for yours too but I also like the E350.

The Jegs kit looks pretty good. You could spend quite a bit of time making those parts yourself.

I'm going to have to do some more shopping while you're on this roll.

That's what I thought, too. The chrome version should resist corrosion a little better than the bare steel one for $4.00 less.

Let me know what you come up with as you put your system together.

I primed and painted the parts Rustoleum Light Grey enamel. It should be easy to keep clean with synthetic brake fluid.

I'm also thinking of using stainless brake line tubing.

Just take what you saved on the booster and mc and get the stainless tubing Jim. Remember after this is done you need to start on something else and you won't have time to work on the Scrambler fixing rusty brake lines.

Stainless it will be.

I'm thinking that as I've never had anything brand new like this before I should dip the whole Scrambler in a vat of Cosmoline.

Either that or just keep it as a garage queen... nope- that won't happen! The problem will be trying not to tear it up too fast.

Master/Booster Assembly

I raced home at lunch to snap a pic and assemble the goodies together. Primed and 4 coats of Rustoleum Light Grey. It may not fare well with old DOT 3 brake fluid but i think synthetic DOT 3 behaves better with paint.

So- that $9.46 cover is on the way and then maybe adjustable rod and pedal assembly clean-up. My used pedal assembly arrived in pieces and I don't know where a wavey washer goes...

Anyone have a diagram of a YJ pedal assembly or can point me to an online link? Thanks.

So I had been asking about an assembly diagram for the pedal assembly and now that I don't have a Jeep CJ/YJ to look at... I even have another bunch of questions.

Here they are-
What is the bracket on the top for?
What is the rod on the left side for?
And what is the bracket on the edge of the clutch pedal for?

The paint job looks very nice Jim. Really I like that MC better than the other, I'm not a big fan of plastic. Keep up the great work.

Thanks Jim. I think I'll use the two Industrial Gray shades on the pedal brackets, seat positioning frame/tubing and roll bar, too.
