Hi Joe, why not weld to the cast? I know some people don't want to but welding to cast can be done reliably. What size of tires are you using? What does worry me is the placement of the lower left arm bracket... One more month ought to do it...

Here is one of the longest threads I've come across. This fellow has a bigger budget than I have by far, but he has is running 37s with short arms. It looks good. Now- to figure out what coils he is using.

Thanks. Is there a generic or MOOG that would compare to these? Coils at $360 before shipping is pretty wicked...
Anyone know?

Im not sure about the generic for those but I run the 3.5" AEVs and love the ride and performance they offer. I know its a bit steep but the quality is definately there

OK, thanks. Looks like I'm getting close to a purchase for the new Scrambler coils.

Sent off a question about vehicle weight and loading to aev-conversions.com. As my Scrambler is longer/heavier by a bit maybe 4" rears and 3" fronts...

buy 4 of the same height spring, also buy a pair of 1" spring spacers. when you get the suspension done, put the spacers on the end [fr/rr] that needs it. who knows, you might need them on one side [pass/dr] or the other.

Here's their answer:
"Sounds like an interesting project. Your Jeep is going to be so much different than anything we've ever put springs on that I can't be sure what would work best. However, taking a guess at your wheelbase and total weight I'd say our 3" TJ Unlimited springs should work very well."
So- The AEV coils and maybe a couple of spacers for leveling as mentioned on spyder6's thread will do it.

Hello again mudb8,
My Currie control arms and brackets will be here today or Tuesday so it's time to get the coils sitting on top of the D60 and Sterling!!
It looks like from what I've read and you have also said- OME or AEVs coils will be pretty good choices for the smoothest DDriving. Is there anything more I need to know about these two?
Do you know anyone with unused F&R 3" OME or AEV coils?
A fellow at AEV said to go with their 3" TJ F&R coils...
I won't be shopping for shocks for a while but I what would you suggest for trackbars- especially the front that can clear the D60 housing?
Thanks for your help, Jim

I think the rep at AEV might be on to something when he says to use TJ Unlimited coils, because they also run an extended wheelbase.

You might know them as LJ's.
This is an LJ belonging to "Polecat":
