Jeep Wrangler TJ Steel Half Doors

Would '97 TJ half doors fit my 1981 CJ?

Assuming you have a CJ7, yes they will physically fit the door opening, as will TJ full hard doors. The difference is in the latch. TJ's don't use the same style of latch and you will have to swap to the TJ style of U-bolt striker. It can be done but it's not as simple as throwing them on and going down the road.
