jeep swap

hey i have a 83 cj5 was wondering if i can put my body into a 71 cj5 frame???

Not without a little modification I believe. Cj5s are shorter

1971 CJ5s were 81" Wheel base, believe it was 1972 when they lengthened the wheel base to 84". They stayed at 84" until end of production. The extra 3" was added to allow room for the AMC straight 6 after the V-6 was sold back to GM.

So my 83 body
Will bolt up to a 71 frame ?

No, it won't bolt up. Body mount locations are different due to the two years having different frames.

At the bare minimum you would new to cut the mounts off the '71 frame and make new mounts that line up with the later tub mounts and weld them on. I wouldn't call it "minimal" unless you have done a fair bit of fabrication.
