jeep is stalling at stops

m jeep starts and runs fine but as soon as i start to come to a stop she spits and sputter and then stalls as soon as i stop any one got any suggestions please help

Sounds like it could be a clogged fuel filter...if you haven't already checked it, replace that first. They're cheap and don't work worth a crap when plugged

You can also look at the Carter carbeurator you have as a possible problem. This is very common when the jets get cloggedd with gunk.

There are website articles all over explaining how to remedy this common problem.

Also, does it happen when the jeep is cold only?

I would say its something in the carb.

Any chance it's a vacuum hose? My money's always on checking them first due to what Jeeps go through and their usual age.

um... definatly the carb, i have experienced three 258's with this carburator issue and for a stalling problem related with stopping, i would never think of anything else but that POS carb.

Cinnamon is also correct that if a vacuum hose came loose, you may stall but in that case at idle you should be experiencing stumbling and surging.
