Jeep no title

I'm looking to purchase a jeep that has been use on a farm for years, however, the owner has no title, how big of an issue is this. BTW the current owner bought the jeep at a military surpluses auction and only received a bill of sale for it.
Thank you

As long as your bill of sale and his contains the proper information you should be good. Here is the DMV link I found http://www.dmv.org/la-louisiana/bill-of-sale.php

Just check with them and verify the correct info first.

hal,
check with your court house, before you exchange any money.

otherwise you may have nothing but an old tractor, farm vehicle, no road vehicle.

some areas may be easy to get the title.

my friend has a 1947 chevy pickup, he had the title but his wife or he lost it, now many years later its still setting in his barn with no title. so far he has never been able to get a title for it.

henry county, TN you would think in backwoods TN you could get a title for a spaceship, but no.

has made a number of attempts over the years with court house, local junk yard man who said it was no trouble, but it proved to be trouble, state dmv, but so far no success.

all I am saying: is do a full blown check before you lay money down.

Jeep is nothing but just a junk vehicle or farm vehicle without a title.

Thanks guys for the information, I don't plane on exchanging any money until I am sure something can be done to make it legal.
