Just took a look at his build...excellent work.

The paint he used for his engine isn't correct for my year....as you get to know me, you'll find I'm extremely OCD about stuff....the paint I need is Ditzler 14688, which Tower Paint sells....no biggie, but I do appreciate looking at his rebuild...gives me ideas for mine.

Well, Scott, the Jeep God must have disagreed that I was being too humble, because I went to grab my speedo last night, to clean up the chrome bezel, and the damn thing slipped out of my hand and hit the garage floor, shattering the glass.

At least now I know it's not safety glass!

I don't think you pros would have made that mistake.

Take a piece of the old glass and the speedometer to a glass shop

They could probably cut a new one. We all know the aftermarket speedos are a POS.

Bill, when I say it shattered, I mean it shattered....there wasn't a piece larger than 1/8"....I've never seen glass do that before.

I'm going to get a good used one off of ePay....my speedo had some issues with the face anyway, and the wife feels bad for me, so I now have an excuse to spend some money!

That totally sucks! I can't speak for everyone else, but I do that kind of stuff all the time.

Two weeks ago I dropped my axle housing off one of the jackstands. Luckily, I narrowly missed bashing my pinion, or I might have had to replace the outer bearing. I did however manage to pinch my air hose, and it bubbled up. I forgot about it that night, and the next morning, I was on my way out of the house, and I remembered the bubble, so I turned the compressor off. Good thing too because the hose ruptured and drained the tank, and the duty cycle is %50 so it would've destroyed my compressor. Almost a HUGE mistake!

Cheers!

You know, it's funny, I totally forgot that I had my old Team Sergeant's saying in my sig....I had to laugh, when I read it just now, because it's so true.

Thanks, Jim. Overall, I am extremely pleased with how it turned out, vs how it looked before......1000% better, but not perfect.

Then again, were the frames 100% perfect, when AMC was putting them together? I wonder.

So just the glass broke? I don't understand. Glass can be replaced at a glass shop easily... probably cost a bit more because it is round. Take the bezel to the shop... a new piece can be cut using it. I can send you a Speedo glass or an entire Speedo if needed. Let me know...

Here's a pic for your viewing pleasure. Hope it makes you laugh! Custom vinyl sticker on his tailgate.

Notice the lean-to getting ready to be "painful"

Cheers!
