Jeep A/C components Diagram

Does anybody have a parts list or diagram of the stock a/c system for the jeep. I am going to go look at a system tomorrow and I want to make sure all the parts are there.

Thanks in advance

Sweet, so I just picked up the a/c system and have plans to install rather quickly.

I plan on cleaning out all parts with mineral spirits. For the best shot at this a/c working well the first go-around, anybody have any suggestions?

You may be better off tossing the condenser and buying a parallel flow condenser designed for R134.

I agree with LT1.

You can get a big box of green o-rings from HF.

You will also need to toss the dryer.

New dryer definitely, but if it's a factory CJ system it doesn't use orings. Go to autozone and they have a loaner/ rental vacuum pump. Get the R134 fittings/retro kit and put them on the compressor, get everything bolted in place, and then put the vacuum pump on there for a couple of hours. Get a set of gauges (got mine at harbor freight and they work fine) and charge it up. If it leaks get a can of freon with dye and look for the leak.

My condensor has a leak, so I'll get a new one, but that's gonna mean new hoses too since everything available now takes orings. That's getting $$$ pretty quickly

I'm in a similar situation. My old condenser has barbs on it, I guess where hoses used to be crimped on. I've tested the thing to 100 PSI with air and it held but beyond that I have no idea. Should I use it or scrap it and buy a new one with fittings?

I say if it held at 100 then give it a try.

If the condenser I have just has barbs on it, would I need to get hoses crimped on before installing it?

I used double clamps on a high pressure fitting on my Nova back in the 80's, it was a barbed fitting and blew off going down the freeway. I don't remember normal operating pressures on the high side but I recall 225-275 psi. Fittings are cheap, I bought one last week at NAPA for 10.00 and they crimped it for free.

So I am installing the AC units I purchased in my jeep. Does anyone know about the wiring?

It looks like there are three wires to hook up. Black and brown coming out of the duct housing together and a yellow wire out of the motor. There is a red and blue wire but they are plugged into eachother on each unit I have so I assume that's how they are supposed to be.

Any suggestions??

Ports are on the back of the compressor. You'll have to go to Napa and get two fittings to convert them from R12 ports to R134 ports (I had to get one side as an L shaped port so the gauge fittings would go on both at the same time).

I'll look at wiring, but on the fuse box there is an "A/C" plug, and an "A/C Comp" plug, so one goes in one place and the other goes in the other. Don't remember a yellow wire but I'll look at mine when I get home.

Oreilly's made me a new hose with the stock CJ flare fitting (instead of the newer style with an Oring).
