jeeep won't STOP running

gotta 73' cj-5 with the 232. checked timing, rebuilt carb, operating within temp limits, idle is set at 700, plugs are gapped right, all new ignition, but sometimes when i turn it off it will deisel and sometimes even spin backwards. any ideas? anyone else have this problem?

probably carbon buildup in motor causing this. the buildup gets sharp points on it and will glow from the combustion heat and act like a sparl pkug or glow plug.use a good engine cleaner to get rid ofthis. i use tl3 deposit removerfrom autozone.comes in a white bottle and works really well

You might try readjusting the idle mixture screws,too rich a mixture can cause the engine to continue to run.

In my CJ there is something called the Anti-deisel soloniod...The book says that it prevents the continued running.
