international scout axles

i bought a 1979 international scout the other day that run and drove but was so rotted out that it wasnt driveable. im taking the whole drivtrain out of it and putting it in my 67 cj5. its got the 196 4 cylinder with a t90 tranny and a dana 20 transfer case, i dont have pics yet .

got dana 44s front and rear
i plan on running 33's and 4.56 gears will this combo be good for mild trail riding?
plus detroit true trac rear and maybe a ox locker in the front cause i do plan on upgrading further but not now.

some mud but not major mud pits.

how do tsl thornbirds do in mild trail rideing and kinda rough rock climbing?
thanks!

Thornbirds suck for everything, all the rest of your ideas sound pretty good: gear ratio, etc.
I'd go ahead and put a locker of some sort in the rear instead of a Tru trac.

i plan on 35s in the future i know the dana44s should be able to take that.

I was just thinking that a Tru Trac is about as much as a Detroit locker, and the TT isn't a locker.
If you put a fresh, tight posi in there, that would get you by until you were ready to put an Ox or whatever selectable you wanted in there.

Didn't know you already had the Thornbirds. I guess if they're free, wear them out. Just don't buy any more of them.
Yeah, the 44's should handle 35's just fine.

keep the axles with 4.10's save the money for ox's front and rear its a great setup that way on 35's put 4 extra cylinders under the hood you will be golden

i plan on keeping the 4 banger i cant afford the v8 fuel haha
but i plan on upgrading to 4.56 gears and a real tight posi for the front that i already have , for now till i got cash for ox's front and rear.

i plan on the 4.56s cause im going 35 inch tires as soon as my thornbirds are worn out

plus the international 4 banger run so good that im gonna leave it alone.

Make sure you ask for the thick ring gear. You can avoid buying a new carrier that way.
