input on 86 cj7 build

ok i have a 86 cj7 4.2 tremec 4spd with 307 gears dana 30 front, dana 44 rear 6 inch custom airshock spring and shackle lift and 35 inch boggers.all original 170k miles and shows the wear on the body but are these jeeps really this tough cause i also have a yj with a 2.5 4 banger built gears lift and tires but still waiting on a desicion on the tranny. but its like night and daybetween the 2. im getting almost 20 mpg from the cj and only 15 from the yj lmao. and thats going by the odometer so i know im actually getting better than that.i do some hard wheeling im not in a region with rocks but both rides are setup for rocks as close as i can with out actually going crawling anyway. so has anyone ever ever had any problems with any of the components as far as the 4.2 tremec or danas? other than operator failure which ive experienced alot of with the driveshafts

Your comparing a Jeep to a wrangler...... apples to oranges. When chrysler started making their wranglers the drivetrain was all different than Jeeps were. Even though the looks resembles a Jeep most things are different. Your Jeeps Tremec T-176 is a strong tranny, as is the dana44 axles even though you have really high gears for using 35" tires, which also explains the better gas mileage.

ps. With those high gears and 35's.... your not set up for crawling, your set better for highways without hills. Just sayin...

Well there stock gears im about to put 410 in it but as far as crawling itll crawl in lo pretty slow not rock slow but slow enough for the hills we climb. Hills it has no problem on the highway. Before i bought it id compare all day long with the yj and cj's but since iv owned it . There is no comparison like you said wrangler and jeep. Just wondering if imight need to look out for anything that might just go when you least expect it
