im a newbie. Original soft top questions.

Help, i am restoring an 81 cj7.

On the later models did the soft tops have the snaps down on the body? or on the top of the tub? where it angles. They made a tub change in 1980 or so?

its seems the older cj7 the snaps were down on the body but the newer ones the tops and snaps were up higher and it was "cleaner look"

thanks chucker2

All the snaps I've seen were on the body. On aftermarket and YJ tops a rail bolts to the top of the tub where it angles, and then a strip slides under that rail which holds it in place. It is much cleaner looking, better, but not oiriginal or correct. If you're doing a restoration get a snap on Whitco top. If you're just building a driver get a Bestop Supertop or similar.
