Ignition Module/Team Rush Question...

I did the Team Rush updgrade about 8 months ago. Since then, I have had two ignition modules go out. I'm using the stock ignition module, BTW. A friend of mine suggested that this problem may be a wiring issue combined with the upgraded power of the Team Rush upgrade. In other words, he is suggesting that I should go back and check/upgrade all my wiring to make sure that, in his words, my ignition module isn't having to work overtime to do its job - thus, burning out in a relatively short period of time. Is this my problem or is something else going on?

The problem is, the ignition modules you are getting are 'Imports' and not up to factory specifications.

This is a VERY COMMON problem.
There are THREE solutions.

First is to buy a QUALITY, PREMIUM module, which will run you upwards of $80.
Usually the modules that live are between $80 and $110.

I consider this stupid expensive for a factory module, especially since you can install a CDI (Capacitive Discharge Ignition) module for about $130!
-----------------------

Have you considered the 'Stealth HEI' module conversion?
It's where we take a $20 HEI style module,
And put that in the case of the factory style module...
Module and connectors will cost you in the neighborhood of $25 for the 'Stealth HEI' conversion.

The HEI style module makes for a very reliable ignition module, and hidden in the DuraSpark replacment case, no one (emissions people) won't know the difference.

------------------------------------

The third solution is to upgrade to a CDI module.
CDI is Capacative Discharge Ignition, and a CDI module will increase your USABLE SPARK ENERGY about 500% or more!

They start about $130, are virtually 'Plug & Play' with a few adaptors, and work wonderfully!

What ever you decide, we can support you here with diagrams, write ups, ect.

NAPA had one for a while that was pretty good, but I'm not sure if they still carry it.

The last two I took apart that were stamped 'MADE IN USA' had problems,
Cases made in South Africa, wiring harnesses made in Korea or South America, Components on the circuit board made in China, Circuit boards made in Korea...

The usual crap you see from counterfeit parts...

Personally, I don't hesitate to pop the guts out and put an a $20 HEI module in the cases now, and plug that right back into the harness...
Easiest solution to the problem!

i did the stealth hei and love it. and it is not that hard to do. what took the longest was baking it in the oven and getting all the goop out.
