Both the orange and purple wires are controlled by the computer. That is what my above comment was about, the computer is still trying to run things.

To take the computer out of your misery you have to do what is called the 'nutter' bypass named after the first gent to publish it. This is not Ca legal at all, but the engine can still be tuned to pass emissions..
