ignition module

we have a 1979 cj5 6 cylinder and we are ready to start it but I am still confused about the ignition module and whether I need it or not. the wiring harness that I have doesn't have the two plugs for the module but I got it from someone else so I don't know if it should or shouldn't so do I need a modularr and I have the wrong harness or do I have the right harness and not need the modular.

Thanks
Rocky

The purpose of the module is to interrupt the coil to send the spark. I know my jeep (83 CJ 7, 258 engine) wouldn't run without it. The only way I can think you do not need it is if a different ignition set-up is installed. Good luck, I'm sure someone with some more knowlege will chime in.
