I smell what you steppin' in

First post, so howdy. Been lurking a while, seems like a good bunch and lots of good info to be had.

I have an 1986 CJ7, currently in boxes for the third rebuild. Hope to have back on the road by fall, we'll see. I have owned the Jeep for almost 20 years, at one time my 2 sons and I had 7 CJ's in my shop. My D-n-L still has one as well.

Been gathering parts for the re-assembly, just picked up this top and doors last weekend. http://gulfport.craigslist.org/pts/3784974406.html

I'm sure I'll have plenty questions, intending to go fuel injected this time, hoping for a pass on the sniff check.

Looks like a nice to jeep to start again! Did you happen to score a Dana 44? Completely up to you, but I couldn't part with the top and doors. Especially ones that are as nice as yours.

Welcome to the Forum!

Edit: just reread and saw that those were the doors and top you picked up. Haha! Yeah, nice find! Enjoy!

Are you thinking TBI, Mopar, or what for the FI?

nice find on the doors and hardtop - they look great.
I have them both already and they are near mint - but I have never had them on after the repaint.
Yet I don't want to sell them as they will go with CJ whenever I decide to sell.
I go "topless" and without doors year round.

Not sure on the FI, will need some advice. I live in Louisiana, but still have to pass smog test on a sniffer. Don't need all the 1986 smog control as long as I pass the sniff. So, I might do the Mopar with a cat unless someone has a better suggestion.

Number one and three are the same:(

Lol!

You might also consider Howell TBI, that was the route I went, but I wanted to be able to pass visual and sniffer. Mopar is the expensive route. If you're just looking to pass the sniff test, look into doing a junkyard TBI. It'll save you money, but will probably provide more headaches.

Your's has a Dana 44 up front and rear? Lucky dog, someone added that front axle unless its a Dana 30. Few of us are lucky enough to just get the stock rear D44, but you doubled up!
