I need some help with my rear drum brakes

Hello everyone,
I purchased an '83 CJ-7 and have started playing around, anyway I figured I would check all the brakes before going wheeling. Shouldn't an '83 have self adjusters. When I pulled the rear drums I was suprised to find out that there where no self adjusters. Why would someone take them off? Does anyone have a pic of what the system would look like with the adjusters? As always any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe this can help. Look at the pic of the brake diagram.

It helps alot, looking at all the images, my existing setup looks more like the older (without the adjusters) setup. Has anyone tryed to install adjusters on an older style brake setup? It looks like they might work.
