Ok, Guys... I need some input! I'm going to install my front roll cage w/ the help of my uncle. But, I need to paint it first! So... Here's the problem... I'm still not sure what color I want to paint the Jeep & I want the Roll cage to match! Should I paint it the original color or should I change the color of the whole Jeep??
Here are my colors (that I'm considering): light blue w/ flake, gun metal gray, black, garnet w/ flake, or the original color. OPINIONS?

Gun metal gets my vote, it will go well with the black accents, and well enough with the tan.

You mention light blue. I always it would be cool do a white jeep with baby blue cage, frame, suspension. Or vice versa.

OK CL!
Why do you have to paint the cage first? Isn't it going to be bolted in? Are you going to tie it into the frame?

I vote tie it into the frame by welding pipe to the frame and a plate just under the floor and bolt the cage to it by thru boltingthe floor. That way it can be removed for painting or bed-lining the floor.

Paint - you know flake is alot harder to spray and impossible to match if you need to repair, after all it is a Jeep with a woman driver Now that being said, I love flake, the brighter the better. My son's frame is 1970 Chrysler Plum Crazy Purple (it has flake). As far a color, it a personal preference, but if you are considering keeping it original, then paint the cage original color, bolt it in and go. You CJ5 looks pretty good already.

If you deside to paint, let me introduce you to Southern Polyurethane. They sell the best primer on the planet and it is cheap. This primer is used under $10,000 paint jobs over in the Hot Rod shops. There is alot of disassembly for a good paint job. You just got it running are you sure you want to paint it now?

Bob

How about if I paint the entire roll cage black & keep the original color for now? Then, later I could decide whether or not to change the color of the rest??
