Ok... Today I ordered all black- windshield hinges, door hinges, hood set, & mirrors. Now I need some opinions... I want the grill cover to be black, too. Should I try plasti-dip??
How durable is that stuff? Maybe I should use it on all of the accessories that I just ordered and return what I bought? Thoughts?

Damn girl...hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Might be a good time to unleash a little of that!

Pretty sure I would have lost my mind if that happened to me.

They asked if I'd be cool w/ them replacing the hood with a green one that they have... No paint. Just an even swap. Ummm... "So, you're asking if I'd be cool with driving my Jeep around with a green hood?! Have you lost your F'n mind?!?! Would I be dropping money trying to make this thing better if I would be 'cool' with a green hood?!" Agh! I kept my temper under control, but if they don't make this right- I seriously might lose it!

I'm amazed that they would even try to offer something like that. Nothing like insulting a customer who's Jeep you just f'ed up. That would just up my standards of the repair a few notches.

I'm surprised, too. I'm already paying right at $1k for the things they did for me... Now this?! SMH. I'm not happy right now.

Nothing happened to it. It's perfectly fine. The problem is- you have to latch the hood... Or really just let it drop w/ enough force to latch itself. The problem is, they didn't. The hood was sitting on top of the center latch & they didn't latch the sides either- All of which is noticeable if you just look. This all sucks. I like the guys that work there... It just makes me mad that now they expect me to drop another $1k (on top of the $1k I already owe them) to paint the rest of the Jeep, so it will match the paint they use on the hood. I wasn't ready for this, yet. I wanted to have it painted, don't get me wrong. But I just found out that I'll be taking a 20% pay cut bc of Sequestration... It's really not great timing.

Once the shop fixes the dent, perhaps that black paint will be next, eh?

Im surprised you didn't scratch the dude's eyeballs out, when he offered the green hood.

Good luck, Wendy.

Matt

There are 4 dents total & the body shop said that 2 of them are too bad- can't be fixed. So, I am looking at needing a new hood. I asked them to price out an entire paint job, as well as repair the front left fender... They are going to quote going Black & quote staying with the stock color. Timing is horrible- but, I'm not being unrealistic. I understand that accidents happen! I just think they could help out a little more... & not just expect it to be ok for my cost to double in the split second that they made a mistake.

It just kills me when a business screws up royally and expects the customer to suck it up and pay for it. A cj hood flying up and slamming the windshield while in traffic could have turned out a lot worse. Apparrently the shop owner just doesn't get it!

Hope they make it right for you...good luck.

Al

Catch what herself? The shop forgot to properly secure the hood. It flew up on one of the shop people while they were driving it not on her. The shop should pay to have hood repaired/ replaced and painted to match IMO.

Perhaps to give you some time to get your finances straight. Have the shop pay to have the green hood panited black and have the paint shop put some small to medium strips to match the color of the rest of the Jeep. It will help it blend and not look so bad. Who whos you may even like it.
