Smile I'm begging!

My '86 CJ-7 has the T-176 transmission and Dana 300 transfer. Can someone please look in a manual and tell me what type of lubricant they specify? I am getting copies of manuals, but would like to change the lube today!!!

Thanks, Bruce

What's up HC? Gear oil is fine in both. I've used ATF in the trans during the cold months, then back to 80W-90 for the rest of the year.Hamy.

Thanks, Mr. H! Mine had ATF in both when I brought it home. I am now rolling with Mobil 1 synthetic in both! It sure made a difference in how smoothly the transmission shifted. With the ATF you could detect friction as the gears meshed and released, now it is "slick" feeling. Hopefully, this will also help with the transfer case always wanting to "stick" in 4x4 as well.

I know there is still a little residue of ATF floating around along with my M-1, so I will drain and refill them again in a month or so.

Thanks again, Bruce
