I broke something
I'm rebuilding my 1984 CJ7 and pulled the dash to replace everything...all gauges, lights, switches and controls.
Put it back together and I'm having a couple problems:
1. I keep blowing my BU/seatbelt 25 amp fuse
2. It starts, and sounds like the trans is engaging, but it won't move (in any gear)
3. Having a flasher problem (replaced the flasher module but no help)
Hoping someone can help with some of this.

Sounds like you moved the transfer case into neutral. Try moving it back into gear.

my '84 doesn't have a BU/Seatbelt fuse, much less a lead for it? and its a Laredo? did you pinch a wire putting it all back together? or ground one that shouldn't be grounded?

i say 1 and three are related, you shorted a wire or ground wire hook in wrong place

These are all very good possibilities. Nothing else to suggest.

This happened to me and I was totally panicked. It's easy to do but easy to fix.

IF you put it all back together properly these are the circuits in a 1984 standard fuse box. The large diagram is from a Wagonner which had the same fuse box but the schematic is for a 1984-86 CJ. You will be looking for Red wires that are shorted or not connected to what it should have been. There are a number of Red wires as they are live with the Ignition in ON and START.

The time now is 11:56 PM.
