Howell. WOW what a difference..pics..

So I decided to go all out on my cj due to the carb being a pos and the cali smog laws....Was having issues getting through emissions...

I cant say enough about the service at howell, great people. If you are on the fence, DO IT! Wow, the old jeep drives like a new car, runs like a top...Cant even believe how much better...

We just started collecting parts...new intake and exhaust manifold, CRT HEI, new plugs and wires, beadblasted and repainted, new water pump, hoses, cat, flowmaster, steering shaft, and whatever other parts that ended up at my house in the last few months all ended up in her in the mad week of wrenching.
Went through my smog/emissions like it was nothing...

Couple pics of the old ratsnest and the new cleaner look...
And yes, a new battery and cables are on the bench for a install this weekend..

man that looks great, can i ask what you have invested in the howell, and was the intake manifold a must have or a nice to have
sounds like driveability is better, is the cali smog compliant too, if so, sweet!

They look like the before and after photos slimming companies use, the ugly fat one v the beautiful thin one.

The "beautiful thin one" is clean, painted and sexed up.

Looking at the original installation I can see you had some issues in there with the set up and just clearing out worn out 30 year old parts or rebuilding them will IMHO make a helluva difference anyway.

It looks real good!!

That turned out great and the intake looks good too. I want to do it to mine but don't know if I will have room beside my brake mc and not sure if I want to pay over a grand for it or do a 4.o swap.

That is a sweet upgrade! Was wondering if you had rebuilt the engine yet? If you did a eng rebuild, and put a cam in it plus did a cyl bore, would the EFI accomodate the inc fuel needs?

The link he posted above leads straight to it and it's priced right too.

thanks guys, drove it 140miles round trip today, and it was a JOY to drive...
As for the intake, I went to http://www.jwjeep.com/ online and dealt with them, the best way to do it is to call them and talk to them, as they get parts all the time that they dont even have time to list on the net.
The problem was the intake wouldnt fit my exhaust, so I had to get both.
I took it to a machine shop, had them re tap all the holes, close some up then I bead blasted it to get a new look...
The J/w guys are good guys to know, they helped me with a few different parts that I found I needed at the last moment, even sending a linkage part overnight at no cost at one point to get me on the road...

I have that same plenum on my Howell except it's polished vs. red. Do you get a tapping sound that resonates through it from the Howell TBI? When I get up close to it I hear a pronounced tapping sound that comes from the TBI. Can't seem to figure out what it is. Runs great though!
