Howell throttle body injection

Hello
Im looking at a 86 CJ7 tomorrow with the intention of buying it
but I do not know much about this conversion that has already been added to the jeep Im used to a Carb
any insight from any of you guys

THis write up should give you an idea of what you are dealing with. One thing I hate about aftermarket fuel injection is that you haft to use premiun fuel. Carbed 258's like cheap gas.

I have the Howell FI on a 360. Runs great on regular gas, big improvement over a carb. Those I know with it on 258's, love it.

Sorry, but that's not necessarily true. I've never heard of anyone needing premium with Howell's kit. I have heard of some who run the Mopar injection who need it and others who don't. Mopar's setup is the only one I've heard of where people have pinging problems, making premium necessary.

I know that not one of my three Jeeps with aftermarket EFI need premium.

Holley Pro Injection system

What about the Holley Pro Injection system? Premium gas? God system??

I just installed the Howell TBI kit on my CJ... I use 87 unleaded and it works fine for me....

Damn nice kit..

So one can use 87 with aftermarket FI. Cool! I did not know that. Although I do sugest that if you get EFI that you make sure to get a kit with a o2 sensor.

I run a Howell TBI kit at 5280 ft elev. (and above), and I get no pinging, even with the crappy 85 octane -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= they sell here as gas....

84 Jeep CJ7, Rebuilt 258 CID with Howell TBI, TFI Ignition Mod, 4" Spring Lift, 1/2" Conn-Ferr Shackles, 33" Yokohama Geolander MT's, One Piece Axles, AMC 20 Detroit Locker, Dana 30 Front Lincoln Locker, Superwinch Hubs, Custom Built Bumpers/Rear Crossmember combo
