Only Laredo's, Golden Eagles, Jamboree's and Limited Edtion's came with tachometer and rally clock in stock form, all other models, it was an option. I had to order my Renegade with the option when I bought it new in 84. Renegades do not automatically come with them.

An uncut dash that is not hacked to death, plus gauges, would be a good deal for $50. Later model years with the dual speakers you might pay a little more.

IIRC ALL CJ5s were NTs, even after WTs became available. The 4 cyl should be a 2.5L Pontiac "Iron Duke" engine. Maybe the Fiero guys have some tricks for ya?
EDIT: Don't be corrupting the lad w/talk of bolting up an SBC! Besides, Novaks' rated the 176 as a medium duty trans. Great for a 6 or mild V8. I really wanted one but my buddy blew 2 up w/a 275 hp 360 crate engine. W/400+HP, I went w/a T-18.

All I want is the dash (and all of the parts along with it). There wasn't anything else on it I could use.

Now the Waggy being parted out about a mile from my house is another story.
Holley fuel injected 360, TH400 with Quadratrac. That's has me wondering if I could sneek it home without the boss noticing what I am up to......

skiz, if you were closer you could keep it at my farm. Or we could strip it at a Wal-Mart, leave the hulk, & I'll hide the parts for ya.

Skiz, you're out near Pittsburgh, no? I'm in NE Pa. Or as the locals call it Scran-un (Scranton), heyna or no? We just had a wild weekend when the cast of "The Office" showed up to celebrate the shows' ending
Anywho, got tons of storage and a trailer. Glad to meet ya if ya gotta stash sumtin (see heyna-bonics on you tube). Jeep parts are free, but bodies are extra!

I'm about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh.
Close to the base of the mountains that lead into WV/MD. That means I have plenty of room for the bodies, but nowhere to stash my Jeep parts. Maybe we could work up a deal.

So skiz and I are about as far apart as you can get in this state. Marvelous!
And robot65, we've got old coal mine shafts, air shafts etc..And thanks to you Texans bringing your fracking tech in, I can get a body 7k+ feet underground in a few seconds mixed in w/slurry! BTW, I and 2 buddies (they're retired Troopers) started a company that does site, and roving security for you boys. Your fellow Statesman are great for our rust belt economy. And man, you guys must have $80k+ in some of your pickups! God Bless Texas!

And I'm almost right in between both ya'll! Right in the middle of the PA Wilds. Got lots of storage, and lots of hiding places for bodies!
