There are 3 reverse torx head (I believe they are labeled as E-XX in sockets) screws that come loose in the tilt columns over time. My CJ's column was pretty bad when I got. Heres a good breakdown of a saginaw column, its from a buick but its the same as in CJ's. Now the one part where they take the outer housing off doesnt really need to be done. You can use a flashlight to look down into the column and get a socket in there with an extension. I did not use one of the E sockets I just used a regular one that fit it and it worked. Without tearing the whole column down you can only get to 2 of the 3 bolts but doing that is enough to tighten it up. I did that just to try it years ago, as I didnt have time to tear the whole column down and it is still nice and tight. Heres the link: Tilt Steering Column Wobble
