How fast is your cj?

Ok.. getting accustomed to my new CJ. I realize they're not exacty designed for speed, but how fast do you comfortably go?? Right now I'm about 60mph max, but not sure what to expect once she's fixed up

Since the NV4500 70 mph is comfortable as long as nothing gets inj the way!.
That is fast enough.

I've done about 75 in a friends 78 CJ7 with T150, and it was on open road. It still scared me.

I couldn't imagine going over 100mph in a CJ.. scary.

I run my CJ5 up to about 65-70 pretty comfortably. I used to have a 1978 CJ7 with a 258 that I ran up to about 80 on a road trip once.

Since my 360 upgrade I can easily cruise at 75mph. There is plenty of throttle left, however, the wind makes anything higher than that scary . My old tired 258 struggled to hit 65 with the pedal to the floor.

I've done 65mph, but it wasn't comfortable or easy on the tired ol' 258. I think the CJ best cruises at about 35-40mph on back country roads.

I buried my speedo at 85 a time or two on the highway, but it was drafting downhill.

Now in my restoration I have going on, I'm putting in a pretty hot 406 SBC that should make the Jeep really fly, but acceleration is the only thing I'll do with it....Jeep's ain't made for top speed.

You know, your mother is going to wash your mouth out with soap.

I think I drove my 5 about 60 max.

I can run 70-75 on the highway but I don't like to, It feels very smooth and comfortable, I just worry having to cut the wheel sharp to avoid some idiot cutting me off. I'm running a 258 with a 176 trans and 3.73 gears

I drive my CJ5 on the highway at 65-70+ every day (well when the weather is nice) without any problem. God help me if I ever had to swerve hard to avoid something though! I'm not sure it would ever stop rolling!
