We were heading to dinner with some friends last night and my wife randomly said.....
"Would you build me one of the new four door jeeps when we can get a used one for cheep enough to buy? I would like to have one for the summer for a fun vehicle but not as a main vehicle. Since you are building the garage as big as our house it will fit in there with our other cars....."

Answer.....

That's a reason why she isn't getting my 82 red one. She can't drive clutch very well and her orange is an automatic. Post up some pics of your project.

Rebuilt the carb motorcraft 2100. Ran new copper oil pressure gauge line.

Painted family roll bar and installed it. In future I will tie into frame

Painted center console.

Started working on dash to install a radio and use a marina cover to keep it water proof. On my jeep I installed radio inside center console to hide it and keep mud away from it. For hers I am keeping it in the dash. The issue is the weather cover for it is huge and two gauges and speedo are in the way. I relocated two gauges and made a plate to cover up existing holes. Pics coming soon. The radio was moved more center between glove box and speedo.

Total for her jeep including price as of right now is $2800. I bought an entire jeep tub for the roll bar. I'm going to scrap the tub after I strip it of some parts as its not in the best shape.

Started working on her frame a few weeks ago. Originally thought only about a foot was bad but ended up cutting out over 4 feet.

Found a huge mouse nest inside her frame. Not sure how long this thing sat inside a garage before we bought it.

Bought new spring hanger and shock mount. Made my own body mount and reused the shackle hanger. Ordered new gas lines as the old ones were patched together.

Bought metal so I know what quality it is rather than scrap yard stuff I have no idea on quality.

$300 in parts and metal.

Thanks. She's getting excited to drive it again. Luckily it's cold so she doesn't want to drive it. Unluckily for me it's cold, I hate working In the cold and my dad took back his heater I was using in the garage. Plus when welding I have to have the door open for fumes.

What she doesn't know is I plan to change the rear axle cover to a HD one and paint it matching orange and put a 01 sticker on it in white and black lettering. It will be a surprise.

Wow! Nice frame work! Got a good laugh about the mouse nest. That was probably holding it together....

Very, very nice work Sir! You gots skillz, indeed. May I beg a question? I wanna tilt my nose the same way hers' is, back. However, I'm afraid the tires will rub the back of the fenders. I have a 4" SUA and a 1" BL and want to run 35" BFG ATs.
What setup is on her CJ that it can tilt back, 'cuz that looks like some serious rubber there. 1st post says 4" & 35s? Shackles look stock & I don't see a body lift. No SOA? Am I right? Thanks for any help and specs you can share.
Keep the pics coming. You should be VERY proud of your fab work!
.
Btw, you guys w/wives that can't drive stick? You don't t know how lucky you are. My wife will have her little bag of Potpourri hanging from the reavriew! And she has a lead foot too. That last part helps when buying speed parts! Either way though, we are all blessed w/women that put up w/this money hole hobby.

I've also learned that sometimes... when people don't agree with you .... its best to hold them down and kidney punch them till they agree with you
