Help with rear crossmember!!!!!

Can somebody help me with some sort of instructions on how I go about removing that crappy rear crossmember so that I can replace it with something better? I am guessing that you have to do something to get the body mounts out but I can't figure it out.

There are bolts that go through the body mount and may be rusted badly,They may be a pain to remove. As for the cross member, it is welded on and must be cut or chisled off, if its not already rusting off. I used a heavy piece of angle iron and welded it to the frame then another small piece of angle iron welded to the inside bottomn of the new cross member to form a channel for the gas tank mount.

Thanks, I was going to do the same thing with a piece of channel. I had a hard time finding all of the body mounts above gas tank because it is an oversize tank. Got those out and the rest of them and now I just have to get that dang rusted piece out of there! Thanks again!

You could just sit in the garage and nag at your roomate since it is his Jeep anyway. Yank the tank. Get out the torch and have some fun. Then send him to the local steel supply where he gets a 49"long piece of 3/16 flat. While he's there they break it over for him into an exact replica of the rear crossmember only beefier. New crossmember price = $20 Thanks for the help Jeff.
