Help on new side panels please

I am going to be putting a new driver side and passenger side side panels on my CJ7 as the ones that are on my 77 were just slapped full of bondo (stupid PO). My old ones are still on the Jeep. My question is has anyone replaced their side panels and if so what did you find out to be the best way to take off the old panels and where to cut exactly. Any help and even pics would be greatly appreciated.

The best advice I can offer is to peruse the threads for Dave (243) and Jody (eaglekeeper). Both of them did extensive sheet metal work. Seems like they drilled out the spot welds with a spot weld cutter (HF). Both discovered rot in the A pillar, but they show great pics on how to repair. I think you'll find the pics fairly early in their builds.

If you post some pictures we can get a better idea of what your looking at. The fastest and easiest way is with a plazma cutter and a panel flanger. Then drill holes in one panel and plug weld the holes with a mig welder.

But there are numerous ways to skin a cat so it might be helpful if you list what tools you have access to.

Actually with the new 3M panel adhesive you don't even need to weld any more.

Cut it, flange it, put some adhesive on and clamp it. It is actually stronger than the parent metal.

With that being said, I still weld in all of my panels. I have way too much invested in equipment not to.....

Since I don't have a welder that sounds like a good, cheaper way to go. Any pics on this process and how the heck do you clamp something that big and with what?
