Help-Name That Part!

I am having trouble finding the technical name for a part on my CJ7. It's a metal pan, about 3.5 feet by 1.5 feet (more or less, I'm at work, and cannot break out a tape measure). It is attached with big bolts to the frame and seems to be holding the drive train up and level.

I think it's holding the drive train level because it is currently off, and the engine and drive trane is sagging where it was.

So....

1. What is the techinical name for this part?

2. What kind of bolts should I order to reattach it? (it was missing bolts when I bought the jeep.)

3. What is that bolt that looks like a bushing bolt that attaches it to the (transfer case?)?

Thx,

Esquilax

That I believe would be your skidplate. The bushing you refer to is your tranny mount or transfer case mount.

Gigihurt is correct. You also may need a transmission torque (or stabilizer) stud as well. Some units have them, some don't.

The transmission Mount is a flat plate of steel with a large chunck of rubber / polyurethane mounted to it. This mounts directly under the transmission and then bolts to the cross-memeber (skid plate). The transmission torque stud bolts slightly off to the side of the transmission mount and helps offset the rotational torque of the transmission.

Both of these can be ordered from several places and even new on Ebay (a lot of times they are sold as a set).

Sorry I don't know the dia. or thread of the bolts.
In my opinion though, use grade 5 bolts and not grade 8.
If you ever have to drill them out, grade 8's are a bear.
