Wow...that's some serious poopy-pants!

There are several things that can cause pinging: timing is #1, lean carb, cam timing, engine heat, I may think of some more. The first thing to do is retard the timing before you chew up you pistons, that'll hurt. I advanced my 85 CJ7 until it pinged and then backed off a little. I'd replace the thermostat with a 180 degree to cool the engine second. Then I'd start on the carb. How does it idle? How far is you idle adjustment screw turned in. Cover the throat of the carb with your hands, does the engine speed up. That is a sign of a vacuum leak (lean carb). Cam timing, did anyone change the cam?

You need to figure out your initial advance, vacuum advance, mechanical advance and your total advance. Sounds like your first purchase is a dial back timing light.

Give me 5 minutes in a dark alley with you, we will see who is crying/conscious.

How does one forever delete their account from this forum? Couldn't find that function anywhere. Maybe one of you moderators could hook me up with that?

Please assist this poor fellow. The Internet keeps making him login to this forum and read and post. It may take some serious assistance because he seems to have had this problem sine 2011!

Good luck with your recovery.

Perhaps you'll find pirate 4x4 is a better fit for your personality.

Wow, I'm not sure what "tipped him over", but I hope he finds company at Pirate.

Any updates from the OP? Sorry for the drama on your thread, but I'd like to see you thru this problem. I'm sure a few others would, too.

dont live life standing on the edge of the abyss thinking no one will ever push you into oblivion. you had better be a scarred up bad *** life taker looking for someone to help you finally sleep without nightmares to challenge sight unseen. i swear AMC has this effect on any one who restores one. it will pass!
