Help identify this Jeep...

Hi, I was up at my brothers in-laws cabin this weekend and saw this Jeep collecting dust in their back yard. My brother doesn't have any info on it and I don't think they have any plans for it. From what I can tell it is a DJ. On the rear it says AM General, I couldn't find a VIN but inside the engine compartment there is a tag with a 6 digit serial #. If it is a DJ it has been converted to left hand drive. The hard top is NOT removable and it has sliding doors like a DJ. I also noticed the grill has only five slats, every jeep I ever saw has seven. Any help IDing this and giving me an idea what it's worth would be apreciated.

Here is a link to the pics of it I was able to take before my camera batteries died.

After doing a bit more research I have determined that it is probably a DJ-5A that has been switched to left hand drive.

Link is fixed, I didn't realize when you create a new album at Yahoo the default is "locked". i switched the settngs to public so it should be viewable to all. But I am reasonably sure now that it is a DJ-5A.

Although I still am curious what I should offer the guy for it or if it is even worth my time....

looks like a postal with a rattle-can paint job.

2x4. Fun for street but not a trail monster.

good luck.

The thing that really threw me off was the five slot grill instead of seven and the 6 digit serial number where it should have a vin.

I thought that all dj-5's had a 5 slot grill. AM General got the rights to build the dj-5 starting in 1967. Now they make the humvee...

I agree with RARECJ8 ..
Sure looks like an ex-postal vehicle. A two (one really) drive vehicle.
It'd be a LOT of work to make that into a trail-ready 4 wheeler! You'd be better getting a frame and stuff at a pick-and-pull and at least have a better start.
