HELP !!... I need a CJ Expert ! Atlanta Area

Hey everyone .. Ive got a 86 CJ7.. Has an electrical issue ! I can hotwire the coil and jump the solenoid and it will crank and run... Lights wont work, guages wont work, Wont start with ignition switch, has issues in general. Ive done what i can do and now ready to take it someone ... Does anyone know anybody or want to play with this thing for me ?.. I will pay.. I've thrown in the towel and ready to get it fixed... PLEASE HELP.. Thanks

Have you done the nutter bypass and the big cap upgrade? Try these first as they are easy to do and do not cost much.

Battery cables? Have you checked to see if they're corroded?

Yeah... Ive checked battery cables, checked fuses and fuselinks and solenoid etc.... Still wont crank with switch or power up dash, lights etc... Does the nutter bypass do anything that would bypass the computer or wirirng that may be keeping my CJ dead ??

I always had corroded terminals as well and a bad(corroded) starter cable.

Anybody done the ignition switch replacement ?... is it difficult on the CJ's ?

Find a thread by John Strenk on the lock cylinder replacement. lots of pics and easy to do.

Sounds like its in the ignition power switch hooked to the lower part of the colum...Should have all the ign wires plus it should have a main hot that will power the coil and other motor stuff from the inside...most are white and will have the ignition rod from the key switch to it...
