All excited now....an ad popped up on the local classifieds today for someone parting out an all original 83 CJ7! And its only a few miles from my house! Going to go check it out tomorrow. Hoping to find a goldmine of good parts!

Got my new dash today. Heres what I'm planning on doing with the radio and switches. It will be boxed in when its done, if I decide to proceed.

Then I ran down the road to a guy who was parting out a CJ, and even though it was picked over pretty good already, I did find this:

forumrunner_20130316_174403.jpg

Best of all, the guy had no idea what it was, and said "you can just have it". Deal! Unfortunately, that was all I was able to get.

Came back and set the dash in place with the radio and switch panel to see what it looks like.

Also got the back seat cleaned up, painted, and set in place. Time for a break now!

That looks about the same as my valve does. Can you tear them apart and do any repairs to them?? I planned to investigate mine, but haven't made it that far yet. I did run a vent line for it though, so at least I have it.

I read a couple different threads on here about the liquid check valve, and roll over valve. From what I understand, there are no user serviceable parts inside either, and they never really go bad, just like a charcoal canister. I still need the roll over valve though, but i saw people were getting them from the Delorean Motor Company for $12.00, so that's what I'll do. Just glad to find the LCV though, since no one makes them any more. the only one I ever saw was on Ebay for $75.00!

Also forgot to mention, I got the steering column all hooked up today to. What a PITA!

That's the same plans I had. Might as well have Delorean parts on it, I have parts from every other make.
Guess I'll just clean my LCV up and give it a try.

The Delorean part I'd rather have is the flux capacitor!

Got my speakers installed in the dash, so of course I had to throw the radio in to see how they sounded!

To finish off the weekend, I finished up my front drive shaft. I had to cut it down by 1 inch since I moved the engine forward. Didn't take any pics of the shortening process, but I just cut a chunk out and welded it back together, being careful to make sure it was straight, and the yokes were in phase. Then it got some new paint, and some u joints. Gotta get some new u bolts, then it can go back it.

Ugggh! The more I look at my dash, the more I hate it! Not happy with the radio configuration, and the paint color isn't quite as orange as I had hoped.

So I think this weekend I will put the radio in the dash where it belongs, and remix the paint with more orange in it, or find a whole new shade. I'm about ready to just take some roll on truck bed liner and go to town with it!

Also got a new CB radio for the Jeep. Going to look into mounting it overhead somehow.

forumrunner_20130321_091501.jpg

And here's a side by side of the color I got, and the color I'd rather have. But I'd be happy with something in between. What do ya'll think?

Got my flux capacitor in today for the Jeep! Lol, just a roll over valve. Part was 12.95, but shipping was 14.95. What a great deal! Not. Also got a can of Hugger orange paint in too, which I'm going to mix with the burnt orange until I get the shade I'm looking for. Hope it goes well!

I was in the same boat. I bought 2 just to have a spare. Ironically the place is about 45 minutes from my house

Well, its after 11pm, and I just came in from the garage! Got a bunch of little things Crossed off the list tonight. Started by getting the rest of the body bolts in. It only took a 2 ton come along hooked to the frame and a piece of angle that I had to bolt to the tub where the fender bolts up. Took a few cranks to pull everything into alignment, but I got it. Went from that, to reinstalling the shifters.

forumrunner_20130323_233026.jpg

Then I threw in the front driveshaft, but i got to get some new straps and bolts. Cant seem to find all of them!

forumrunner_20130323_233311.jpg

And now for my fuel filter. I reinstalled my line from the pump to carb. I have this filter inline now, but i don't think its meant to be the primary filter.

forumrunner_20130323_233649.jpg

forumrunner_20130323_233718.jpg

I also have this filter. The barb on the side I think goes to the fuel return line, but my question is, does this filter have to be after the pump, or can I put it in before the pump, which would be more convenient?
