I love what you're doing- I'm in.
Thanks! Was going to get ready to pull the motor out of my parts Jeep and set it on the new chassis, however, I got sidelined today by my truck. It started making horrible noises when I turned yesterd

Yeah, real world vehicles suck my CJ budget dry. I had all three of my other cars in the shop in the last month- mostly for stuff I could not do.

Did a little more work on the jeep today. Started tearing apart the parts jeep to get my brake lines out, and get ready to pull the motor.

Not much progress today though so far. All this white stuff is keeping me pretty busy as well!

Today, I got the tub lifted up off the frame, motor pulled, and frame out. Pretty nerve racking doing all that yourself! Now I just gotta pull the headers off, blast them, and paint them. Anyone have experience with duplicolors flame proof exhaust
paint? Does it hold up well on headers? After that, I will be repainting the motor orange, then I can set it down on the new chassis. Hopefully this weekend! And, anyone looking for a new frame, the one on the floor can be had for 200 bucks.....

I'm hard to stop once I get in the garage! And thats why I left that bumper on for ya!

You'll have to start a build thread, or post up some pics here of your progress on that frame Steve!

It's going to be a long, slow process. I want this to be the last time I ever do it. Hopefully I'll learn from the mistakes I made last time. That's why I'm cutting every single patch off, not knowing what's under there would drive me nuts.
I got everything cut off and removed from the front half. Tomorrow I'll start on the rear, and dump the dirt out of it. I probably lightened it by 100lbs already.

The back has me nervous as to what's under there. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

Thats why my build threads called "lets try this again build"! I'm calling the first 2 years just practice. Now I'm doing it for real, lol. Good luck on the frame. I spent 6 months making mine perfect, and I paid 5 Times as much for mine! Talk about buyers remorse!

Alright, lets get this built going again! I had posted these pics up last night in another thread, but thought I better put them where they belong so everyone can see. While installing the engine last weekend, I realized I had the wrong motor mounts. I originally got the jeep that had the wrong mounts in it, and never knew it. But I always thought it looked funny! So after shopping around for new mounts, and not knowing exactly which ones I needed, I decided to just fabricate my own. I had some extra leaf spring bushings that fit nicely into 1.5 inch pipe, so I'm using that to make arms that will bolt to the frame using the stock holes, and a plate with tabs on it that will bolt to the motor to attach the arms. Here's what I got so far....

Also threw together a torque arm for the transmission mount real quick to give me some stability while I have the front of the motor dangling from the hoist. Once my mounts are done, I'll make a new, longer torque arm, as I cut it a little short on the left side.

I am digging the engine color! Nice contrast, great choice.

Thanks! I'm going with a metallic burnt orange with black trim on the outside, and when I found that color engine enamel, I had to have it!

Was planning on working on my motor mounts last night, but while investigating a slight grinding noise in my truck, hoping it was just ice buildup, I found that my wheel bearing was shot. They usually only take about 20 min to replace, but this SOB kept me busy for over 2 and a half hours! Finally took a 10 pound sledge to get the old one out.
My truck is only 5 years old, and it seems like I'm working on it more than the Jeep lately. Hopefully I'll get some Jeep time tonight!

Made some progress on the new motor mounts today. Got the right side just about done. Just got to make the plate that will bolt to the frame, then paint it up. Im still not sure if these mounts will work though. Any thoughts guys?
