Ground for gas tank

If the ground for the gas tank is off will it cause the gas guage and the temp guage to stop working and allow the volt meter to still work? I tried to follow the wiring diagram but I wasn't real clear on how it all works. I am an idiot when it comes to these things.

I ran a dedicated ground (as in.. not to the frame) on my fuel tank.. and yes.. if there is no ground at the sending unit, the fuel gauge will not work.

I know the fuel gauge won't work. I want to know if the temp gauge will not work either if the ground is off the sending unit.
