grinding noise

I recently fixed my locking hubs on my '85 CJ7 and took it out for the first time last sunday. After awhile, I noticed this grinding noise coming from both hubs when it was rolling. This was with the hubs unlocked and while rolling. I immediately got out and locked them in fear of tearing them up and the noise stopped. Is this sound normal to these hubs or was mine just not disengaging all the way? Thanks for any comments.

Grinding, while common on Jeeps is not "normal." How well did you grease up/lube the hub assembely. Is everything torqued to spec?

I'd check both of these things.
