I believe the glass is different. It shows different part#'s from my auto glass distributor.

No problem. It shows a DL01136 for the 76-86 CJ7s. And a DL01105 for a 68-75 CJ5.
The wholesale price on a windshield for a CJ7 is like $40 bucks. So if you go somewhere they'll probably mark that up a bit and charge you labor to put it in. Or you can save some money and put it in yourself.
I actually have a paper pattern of a windshield for the 7's. I cut mine out of gray safety glass.. so if you re-look at those pictures you'll notice the blackness in the windshield. Nobody's said anything to me yet, I don't think many people look close enough at it to realize anyways.
And thanks -- it's just a constant project. If you aren't adding something, you're fixing something! We all know how it goes.

Not even close. The earlier windshield is rectangular whereas the later one is trapezoidal. The top is a good 3" narrower than the earlier version.

alright well, I guess ima put mine on craigslist. Im putting all 76+ in my 72 CJ5. I just got a great frame and figerglass tub... with the dana 44 rear and 258 u know the stock 72-75 CJ5s, but it's so hard to find stuff for them, and my windshield frame needs replaced as did my dash. So, while my license is suspended, i'm upgrading my jeep. I got dash and column with 2 full wiring harness for 76 CJ7 for 90$. Craigslist is a beautiful thing!!
Being from Ohio, everyone has a jeep and when your 24 and rebuilding a 72CJ5 people tend to help you out. Young kid, old jeep.. they like it. =)
