I think you are going to turn a profit on that thing! Will be watching the auction through the end. Goodluck.

That might be true if you value my labor at about 10 cents per hour. The reserve was set at the cost of parts and materials, and did not include any compensation for my labor. At a still-too-cheap $50 per hour, it would have to sell for over $8000 for me to even "break even". Good thing I did this build for fun and not to make money!

When you sell the Gaucho, you should include a note with the paperwork referencing this thread along with the address. That way the buyer will be able to see the progress as well as continue to post what he/she is doing to it.

When I built the Retro Wrangler, I used new reproduction sheet metal for the bed from a company called Mar-k (it's a 46 Chevy bed). When I finished the build I sent them some photos and they put the photos on their web site.

They're doing a "What's your favorite truck" contest among all the submitted truck photos on their web site. Wouldn't it be cool if the Retro was voted the favorite over all those Chevies, Fords, etc...

Here's the link, if you'd like to vote for the Retro, visit this link, click on "Click here to vote for your favorite customer's truck", and select "Jeff Scherb" from the drop down list: Customers' Trucks Gallery

Wow...I was watching it live and it went from 28 bids to 44 bids in the last minute - 3 bids in the last 3 seconds. It went from $6300 to $8400 in less than a minute. So Jeff made $2100 in a minute - not bad. That was a fury!

I think Ebay should eliminate last second sniping by implementing a new rule. If anyone bids in the last 3 minutes of an auction, the auction is extended for an additional 2 minutes. That way, there's no last second sniping and like in a real auction, other bidders get a chance to make another bid under the wire. The seller makes more and Ebay makes more in fees.

I was pulling for $9500 for Jeff. I think he should have linked the auction to this thread. Prospective buyers could have seen the true detail put into this vehicle. I think he would have gotten more. That is a beautiful truck and and I hope he is satisfied with the end results of his endeavor.
