you can get the aftermarket FIXED vent window weather stripping at collinsbrosjeep.com. Call Rose and make sure she knows what you're after. you may have to do a bit of trimming of the rubber if you're using factory glass. they also sell the aftermarket glass, and no trimming was really required for that...

No change in status to report.

- The Gaucho is for sale, although I'm not advertising or pushing very hard to sell it.

- I am actively looking for a 93-95 4.0 5-speed YJ to provide an engine and drivetrain to finish the Gaucho. If I find the right YJ, I'll finish the Gaucho on a lengthened YJ frame as I have said. I looked at a YJ last week but the guy wanted too much money for it for my purposed.

- And as I reported in the Safari Cab thread the other day, I'm also still tinkering on the Gaucho a bit, the other day I figured out how to adapt the much higher quality YJ wiper mechanism to the CJ windshield frame, and use the longer 12" YJ wiper blades to clear more of the glass. (Just installing the YJ mechanism in the holes in the CJ windshield frame with no modifications will result in the top of the wipers hitting the windshield weatherstrip at the top of the windshield).

- If I go ahead and build the Safari Cabs, it would be handy to have the Gaucho around to test-fit the CJ versions of the tops.

- Next two small projects to be done is to finish the Retro fenders, I molded them late fall but never did the paint prep, paint or installed them on the Retro, so I've got to get that done, and installing a 2" lift on the new LJ I recently bought so it can take the same size tires as the Retro.

He seems happy at the moment driving the Nissan Sentra that my daughter didn't take to college with her.

I do plan to teach him to drive the standard transmission in the new LJ soon, maybe that will make a Jeeper out of him

In case you've ever wondered, they come apart into some fairly manageable pieces - they were designed to shipped in knocked down form for export markets, that's why they're called World Cabs.

I'm now shopping for a 2005-2006 Wrangler Unlimited to replace the Scrambler.

Is this the same top?

Nothing new to report on the Gaucho at this time...

I am still looking for a YJ with the idea of possibly fiinishing the Gaucho myself, but nothing decent has shown up on Craigslist recently.

This week I'm working on finishing the new fiberglass fenders for the Retro. I made these in the fall at the same time I did the Gaucho fenders, but never got around to finishing them. Here they are sprayed with epoxy primer, and next I'll spray them with three coats of high-build primer/surfacer, followed by hand block sanding with 400 grit. Probably after that there will be another coat of primer/surfacer, followed by 600 grit block sanding, then they will probably be ready to go to the body shop for color/clear.

After I finish the Retro fenders I plan to start some work on the Safari Cab project; up until now I've been doing design work on that one but I'm just about ready to do some fabrication. The Gaucho will be used as a test platform to build the CJ versions of the Safari Cab.

You can join us over on the TJ forum if you're interested in that project, it's been a very active thread so far: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/safari-cab-custom-hardtop-project-952157/#post8719514

Whenever there's any update on the Gaucho, I'll post it here.

I don't have an update on the Gaucho project other than to say the Gaucho is sitting in the garage serving as a development tool providing measurements and test fittings for the Safari Cab hardtop project. I'm doing most of the development work for the Safari Cab on my LJ, but the top is also being designed to fit CJ-7's and CJ-8's; here's a recent concept drawing of the full top on a CJ-7.

Construction of the top is underway, documented in the TJ forum, because of the LJ being used for the primary construction. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/safari-cab-custom-hardtop-project-952157/

After the Safari Cab project is done, then I'll focus on the Gaucho again and decide what to do with it.
