that is kind of a loaded question. Depends on tires, gear and jsut about any modification done to the engine. Transmisions will change mielage also. Just remember they are rolling boxes. I have heard people say they are getting anywwhere from 9-20 miles a gallon. Mine gets around 15-16 mpgs. I6 232, T150 tranny, 3.54 gears with 31 tires.

^ Also how you drive the Jeep will effect your MPG. I can get around 15 MPG just tooling around and on open road or 8 MPG down hill with a tailwind with a heavy foot.

Originally I was getting around 20 but with the mods, I'm getting around 18.

I have a '77 CJ7 with 304 and weber 4 barrel carb and I get between 10 - 12 mpg. It ain't great but I don't drive it for the mileage. It's a weekend cruiser and worth every penny. *unfortunately those are becoming a lot MORE pennies lately with gas prices at almost $4/gal!!!!

If your ok with 8-12 mpg with a 304 the CJ is the obvious choice. If you are looking for it to be a daily driver go with the Wrangler.
