Full Hard Door ADjustments
Anyone have any good pointers on adjusting doors.
I have installed new doors, aligned the body lines, thedoors close on the door latch pins OK, but the passenager side is a little low in the back side.
I tried to raise the whole door up and then twist teh front a little lower but no luck, the door keeps going back to the last position.
Any help here would be appreciated.
p.s. I did notice one thing and this may not be a biggy, the passenager's side door is approx 7/16 shorter than the driver's side door.
This could be my problem, I think that is all I need to get teh passenager's door to align.
Anyone ever hear of doors being short.
Do it right the first time !
I just put some doors on my CJ and had to loosen up the two hinges on the door to get the adjustment correct. I tried not to do this (didn't want to mess up the paint) but couldn't get them right. Once I loosened those hinges, I wiggled the door maybe 1/8 of an inch and everything lined up. The doors close nicely, the windsheild sits good and seams line up. Those door striker pins are easily loosened and moved so that was the last thing I made fit. I did try to use some bolts and washers on the passengers door to hold the hinges on (had to drill the originals out to remove the hinges) but the doors would slowly sag. I put some of the taper (like the original ones) bolts in and they fit the hole better. No more saggin'. Hope this helps and Goodluck

This may or may not be a good idea, but it worked for me. When I aligned my hard doors I loosened the door hinges and placed a folded towel under the door. I shut it and used the towel as a soft shim. If it looked like the door needed to be raised I put more folds in the towel. If it looked like the door needed to be lowered I took out some folds in the towel. Once I got the door where I wanted it I tightened the hinges and removed the towel. It worked out great for me, but maybe I just got lucky. Hope this helps.

i just has someone pull up on the door the tighten it back up and it worked perfect if its really off the you could take a file to the hinge and make the holes a little larger and use a washer on the end you should be about to get a bit more movement out of it if you do that.
