fuel & temp. gauges

i am having trouble getting my fuel and temp. gauges to work on my 85 cj7. i have bought replacements and installed them in my speedo. temp. sending unit and fuel sending unit are new. have checked all grounds. when i power up temp. gauge goes high and fuel gauge goes full. the original fuel gauge had three terminals on back, S,I,A. the replacement only has two S,I. could this be the problem? all dash lights working fine, volt and oil gauge working fine. have visited cj gauge troubleshooting site but found no solution. help

Good luck with that 2 terminal replacement Fuel Gauge. You should probably be like this guy and send them back for better replacement gauges. I didn't realize that they made replacements with two terminals until very recently, and already I only hear bad about them.

Anyway, your description indicates the gauges are shorting to ground, the senders are out of spec, or the current in the circuit is out of range for the gauge design.

Search this forum, there are about a billion gauge threads, but I'd start with getting better replacement gauges.
