Front axle width vs rear

Does the front axle need to be slightly wider than the rear in order for the jeep to steer correctly?

I think it is to keep the wheels from tracking in the same spot for better traction. Think making ruts.

Anyone else have a better answer?

I want a CJ-6 with a hardtop.

I believe a wider front axle helps when making turns. However, I don't think the gain is hardly noticeable unless you got way crazy with a super wide rear axle.
