Found this tub on craigslist

I found this fiberglass tub on craigslist yesterday, going to look at it tonight

Owner does not know the manufacturer of it.
any ideas of stuff to look for, or look out for?

He is asking $600 for it, which seems reasonable to me, what do you guys think?

Seems like a good price to me. If its the CL add I saw and it comes with the heater box, steering etc....It a good price to me. Plus he has part he can't sell until he sells the tub.

That's the one, he is about an hour away from me, planning on buying his doors and maybe a couple other parts as well.

i got my yj tub for $300 in perfect condition. my buddy got his for $200 and it was in perfect condition except some of his body mount nuts were busted. jeep parts arent cheap around here either. but thats not too bad of a deal considering it includes the other parts and that its glass.

See what he wants for the front rims. Those look to be the plan steels, that lots of folks want.

Is it being advertised as a fiberglass tub? I agree it looks like one but there are some things that make me think it may be steel. The factory door strikers for one, I did not think you could mount them to a FG tub.

It says fiberglass in the ad, some things look a little odd to me, that's why I am going to check it out. The door strikers were one item I noticed as well

The front axle appears to be a full width D44 or D60, neither of which is likely to have a 5x5.5" bolt pattern.

Those look like internal hubs. I'm pretty sure the Scouts all had external hubs like the CJs? He could've swapped on GM/Waggie outers though..

Correct, it appears to be a cut down chevy front end with big brakes, high steer, aftermarket shafts and what looks to be a ctm style u joint, supposed to be 4.88 gears and a Detroit locker as well.

I bought the body, I may have to take the axle as well, he is asking 750 for the axle

If you look up under the dash to the left of the steering column, look at the cowl area where it curves down to the side. There may be a glassed in sticker of the manufacture there. My fiberglass body from 4wd has a sticker there with a serial number.

to the pics!

Set of YJ steel doors. in amazing condition - $250

Aluminum diamond plate 1/2 doors - $50

Liftgate with glass, good seals and all hardware - $50

plus the body puts me @ $950, he also threw in a fiberlgass CJ top, and the tub will come with some goodies left installed for me
