Found a Donor CJ5... Please advise!!

I went to look at this 79 CJ5 priced at $700.

http://s1361.photobucket.com/user/BA...ential%20Donor

It seems like a no-brainer to me, but I could really use some advice.

There were no rust holes in the sides but the PO welded in sheet metal over the rusted floor (I dont like it and would cut everything out and weld in CJ floor panels). I brought a magnet pen with me to check for bondo and the magnet stuck to everything. I would like to put the tub on my 82 frame and part out the rest of what I have.

The engine (258) comes with it and the mechanic swears that it runs.

I have a few questions:
1) Does the tub look like a good donor to you veterans?
2) Why do the front axles not have locking hubs?
3) Do those seats look stock to you guys?
4) Do you think it would be hard to part this out to make-up my $700 investment?

I think the PO was totally nutso... but please point out anything else that stands out to you all!

Thanks!

Not sure if it was an option or not that year. But check to see if the gear ratio front and rear match. Could of been a front axle off an Automatic for that year.
I've had a couple CJ's without the lockouts. It's still 4WD if you are worried about that.

I`d jump on that around here for $700. The front seats look stock, I`m pretty sure my dad had them in his 76 that he bought new.

Thanks axle. The front two seats are in pretty good condition. The back one is covered in so much stuff that its hard to see, but I don't think it is as good as the front two are. I was thinking I could sell those or trade someone for some decent high back, stock looking seats.

The major 'pros' to buying this one are:
-price
-the top is in great condition
-seats
-no holes in the sides of the tub

The 'cons' to buying this one are:
-The sheet metal in the floor was done poorly
-the spare is drilled awkwardly through the tailgate
-the mysterious non locking hubs up front

I think I'm going to go for it.

If anything else stands out to you all, let me know
