Ford 9 Inch Build Questions

Just picked up a 9 inch bare housing and am starting to plan out the build. I know very little about these axles at this point. I have searched on here and on Pirate as well as Google and found some pretty good info. However, I am at the point where I still have some questions about what questions to ask

90% chance I am going SOA and will have 36" tires.

It is currently 60.5 inches flange to flange on the bare housing, I think that would probably put me around 65 or 66" or so WMS to WMS. Is this correct?

I will be cutting the axle down, targeting about 58.5" WMS to WMS. When I do this, how do I determine where to have the custom axles cut and resplined. What is the measuring point?

I found some threads on pirate showing how to junkyard disc brakes. Anyone done this?

It has the large bearing housing - I want to go with 31 spline axles i think. ummm do I?

Does anyone have a junkyard rebuild thread or any other info on what they have done?

I know this all pretty general, but any help, advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

I will get back to you on this. I passed on a dana 44 front and ford 9" rear, but my buddy bought them. They are still out and finally visibile from the snow, but I can measure them and send pics, it has disc brakes set up and I can get the info. it also has superior axles in it.

I gave you some answers in bold in the quote I reccomend Moser axles for the 9" and their tech support is great They may even tell you where you need to take your measurements Currie enterprises is another company that could give you info on the shortening of your 9"
