flex fan is a bad idea for offroad. an electric fan is claimed to add a decent amount of horse power. Should be around the same price as a flex fan too. My vote is for the electric.

Summit has a setup made just for CJ7s here.

I put one like this on my TJ in about 3 hours. Routing the wires took most of the time and I added a fuse box at the same time.

I had a "Fixed" Flex Lite fan on my 4.2. It was a horsepower hog and very noisy, although it was very reliable. I changed to an electric fan (from Ford Contour-they work great) and I could really tell the difference. The engine was really alot more responsive. That Flex-a-lite from Summit is sure the way to go (a bit pricey though).

You can buy the aftermarket thermostat setup. The sending unit plugs into the radiator core and energizes the switch at whatever temp you want. I set mine to come on about 190ish or so about 5 years ago and haven't messed with it since. That's running a Black Magic Fan (pulls 2800 cfm).

Anything is possible, most likely it will you would just have to hook it to the correct wires. Think of the ford contour fan as an aftermarket fan.

Flex fans tend to eat radiators when driven through deep water. Use a clutch fan or electric.
Enjoy!

Are these the ones with the little probe that you stick between the radiator fins?

That's the one. It's set up for 190 degrees, and so far so good!
