Flat or cup washers

I'm converting my 76 intake and exhaust over to a 84 Intake and exhaust.

The 76 came with cup washers but a lot of the pictures of the 84 and later manifolds look like they used flat washers. To me, they seem like they would bend when torqued down.

Anyone know what OEM stuff was on the 84? Anyone have a preference?
Is there a 'special' flat washer that won't bend? Heck, I never looked into grades on flat washers.

I know, what's a cup washer? There were two different ones used on the old manifolds but I never took a picture of something so simple and universal and until I looked closer at Kieth401 picture, I never though any other was used.

(no, i don't know were the plugs go this kit is for a 4.0)

Ditto^^, go with the cup washers. I agree that flat washers would bend. My '85 CJ7 and my '79 CJ5 both have cup washers.

It's good to know the old ones will fit.
